Thrown

Template:Up to date For an explanation of all weapon properties, see Weapons.

Thrown is a weapon property that allows a weapon to be used as a projectile with the Throw or Enraged Throw actions.

A melee weapon with this property can be thrown for a ranged attack, and will benefit from the creature's Ability Score Modifier (Strength) and Proficiency Bonus as usual, instead of being treated as an Improvised Weapon. This combines with the Finesse property: if you throw a Dagger, which has both Thrown and Finesse, you can use your Dexterity Modifier for the attack and damage rolls.

List of Thrown Weapons

Unique Thrown Weapons

The weapons listed below possess the Thrown attribute, while other weapons of their same type typically do not.

Weapons that interact with throwing

  • Nyrulna - Deals 3d4Damage TypesThunder in a 6 m / 20 ft blast when thrown, and returns to its owner.
  • Slinging Shoes - Deals 2d4Damage TypesPsychic when thrown, and returns to it's owner.
  • Comeback Handaxe - When thrown, will return to the thrower and hit them.

Temporary Sources of the Thrown Property

Any weapon can be given the Thrown property via the Weapon Infusion magical effect, which is a possible outcome of the Wild Magic Barbarian Wild Magic Barbarian Wild Magic table.

Bugs

Thrown finesse weapons (i.e. Daggers) always use the Strength Modifier for the attack roll.
