Volo's Ersatz Eye image
Volo's Ersatz Eye is a story item that can be used to grant permanent sight of creatures that are Invisible within 9 meters
Description Icon.png

A hollow bead of white glass, carefully painted to resemble a realistic eye. Its tarnished brass fittings hum with a tinge of magic.

Properties

Effect

  • While the ersatz eye is embedded in your eye socket, you can see through the tiny orb as though it were a normal eye. Can't be removed once inserted.
  • When used, the eye has the following Permanent effects:
    • Invis Sight
    • (Note: The eye will remain in your inventory after being used.)

Where to find

  • Can be pickpocketed from Volo in the Goblin Camp, before resolving the Druid Grove/Goblin Camp conflict. [Needs Verification]
  • If Volo is alive during the celebration (after resolving the conflict), he can attempt to remove the player's tadpole via an experimental operation. [Needs Verification]
    • Needless to say - because Volo is a bumbling fool - this operation is unsuccessful and leaves the player character permanently blind in one eye.
    • Volo gives you the ersatz eye, which will negate all the downsides of this debuff
