Per-weight, gold is almost certainly the most Valuable Item that can be easily acquired. Universally accepted by Traders.
You can find a dozen different currencies in Faerûn, but everyone accepts gold.

- One of the few items with an icon that changes depending on stack size
- If you are wondering why your Weight is higher than you expect, even after selling your loot, you might want to check how much gold you are carrying around.
- As an individual item, gold is one of the lightest items in the game that isn't actually weightless. You need to be carrying ten pieces before any weight is even reported.
