Zariel is the archdevil ruler of Avernus[1], the first layer of the Nine Hells. Tieflings of her bloodline, the Zariel Tieflings, are empowered with martial strength and can channel searing flames.

Karlach was one of Zariels prized soldiers.

History

Zariel is a fallen angel. When she was still a Celestial, she was tasked with monitoring the Blood War. She took it upon herself to take action, and led an unsuccessful invasion of Avernus. She was defeated. [2]

She is credited with kiling a horde of Yeenoghu's Gnolls.[3],
