Types of Images
Game File Images
Image files would benefit from clear guidance for naming conventions, the early adoption of '_Icon' as an almost universal suffix is probably not fixable now without a risky, and probably undesirable admin-powered mass renaming. This means some thought needs to be put into naming things that are, and are not, explicitly "Icons" as used by the game, and allowing for the 5000+ files already using the '_Icon' suffix, regardless of this. The vast majority of images from the game files consist of:
- Tooltip Images - Large (380x380) "faded" images.
- Used in tooltips for UI elements/objects/items.
- Tooltip Images make up the vast majority of game files uploaded to wiki during EA.
- Desirable for use on the wiki when emulating in-game tooltip windows, i.e. on Equipment Pages.
- 'Controller' Tooltip Images - Medium (144x144) "unfaded" images, similar to regular Tooltip images;
- Used in tooltips when playing with a controller.
- Desirable for use on the wiki when a clear illustration of an element in question is wanted; i.e. a gallery of visual variations of an item.
- Icons - Small (64x64) Icons, or individual game files with the 'Ico_' prefix.
- Used for UI elements/interface.
- All(?) tooltip "images" also have an Icon form, stored by the game in 64x64 grid sprite sheets.
- Often visually distinct from tooltip images, occasionally unique.
- Desirable for use on the wiki when presenting Icons...
- Alongside text.
- In bulleted lists.
- For illustration or emulation of in-game UI elements.
- Particularly useful as an accurate visual reference for Conditions and Passive Features.
