Sanctuary is a level 1 abjuration spell. This spell allows spellcasters to ward themselves or an ally against enemy attacks.

Description

You or an ally cannot be targeted until you attack or harm a creature. You can still take damage from area spells.

Until the affected entity attacks or harms another creature, it cannot be targeted by enemy attacks. However, it can still take damage from spells that influence a larger area.

Casting this spell at a higher level grants no additional benefit.

Duration: 10 turns

  • Affected entity can't be targeted by enemy attacks or spells. However, it can still take damage from spells that influence a larger area. Condition ends if the affected entity attacks or harms another creature, and will receive Sanctuary Blocked Sanctuary Blocked for 1 turn.

Notes

  • Throw Throw is considered a harmful action so throwing anything including healing potions, will end your sanctuary.
  • Weapon attacks do not count as harmful unless they hit or damage something.
  • Performing a Shove Shove will break the sanctuary effect of the person shoving.
  • Damaging yourself will break sanctuary. This includes the things listed below:
  • If someone takes damage in a surface you created, you will lose sanctuary even if you created it in a previous round.
  • If someone takes damage from a condition you applied, you will lose sanctuary even if you applied it in a previous round.
    • This includes conditions applied from surfaces you created, like Poisoned Poisoned or Burning Burning.
    • This does not include conditions if the damage is not attributed to the person with sanctuary, like Singing Sword: Shriek Singing Sword: Shriek.
  • Damage dealt by summons you control does not break sanctuary.
  • Hypnotic Gaze Hypnotic Gaze does not break sanctuary.
  • Gust of Wind Gust of Wind and Chromatic Orb Chromatic Orb does not break sanctuary as long as you don't deal damage.
  • Sleet Storm Sleet Storm does not break sanctuary.
  • Moonbeam Moonbeam and Move Moonbeam Move Moonbeam does not break sanctuary even if you deal damage with it.
  • Obsidian Laced Robe and Circlet of Psionic Revenge do not break sanctuary when they do damage when you succeed on saving throws.
