Overview[edit | edit source]
Elturel was briefly dragged into Avernus as part of an infernal conspiracy, a terrible event referred to as "The Descent" or "The Fall of Elturel". After the city returned to the Heartland surface, fear and distrust led to the exile of Elturel's Tiefling population. The tiefling refugees, led by former Hellrider Zevlor, can be first encountered in the Emerald Grove in Act 1 and then throughout Act 2 and Act 3.
Elturel's Descent is the main plot of the 2019 Dungeons & Dragons adventure Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, which was developed and released as a prequel to Baldur's Gate 3.
