Darkness is a level 2 evocation spell. This spell allows spellcasters to conjure a cloud of darkness in an area within range that obscures and inflicts to those within it.
Description
Create a cloud of magical darkness that and inflicts to creatures within. Creatures cannot make ranged attacks into or out of it.

A shroud of magical darkness that Heavily Obscures and Blinds creatures within. Creatures cannot make ranged attacks into or out of the darkness.

- Ranged attacks and spells have a range of 3 m / 10 ft and Attack Rolls suffer Disadvantage.
- Attack Rolls against Blinded creatures have Advantage.

(Character level is the sum of all class levels for a multi-classed character.)
Notes
- Drow, Drow Half-Elves, and Asmodeus Tieflings can only cast the spell once per Long Rest.
- Effects that grant sight in magical darkness, such as the Warlock Eldritch Invocation , Eversight Ring from act 2, Shar's Spear of Evening from act 2, and Steelwatcher Helmet or Helldusk Helmet from act 3, allow ranged attacks into and out of this spell's area.
- Ranged attacks made from the spell's area will have Advantage with the tag "Attacking from shadows", provided that the target does not have or the attacker is outside its range. Note that this effect is in spite of Darkvision not allowing attacks into or seeing in Darkness.
- The incantation for Darkness is Umbra, Latin for "shadow" or "shade".
